HER VISION

Carolyn DeVore, Founder/Artistic Director of the DeVore Dance Center, was born and raised in St. Alban's Queens.   Circa 1990, she had a vision to reach young people through the art of dance.

Ms. DeVore holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Modern Dance and Secondary Education from Brooklyn College and a Master Degree in Special Education from Adelphi University. Ms. DeVore attended the Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center, where she studied with distinguished dancers and choreographers – Micheal Peters, Ben Vereen, Arthur Mitchell, and Bernice Johnson herself.

Through its 25 years, DeVore Dance Center has attracted thousands of dancers from throughout New York. Students have enjoyed the opportunity to learn directly from Ms. DeVore and to experience dance on a higher level. 

 Ms. DeVore has received many awards including:

  • Queens Borough Presidents, Special Recognition Award2008
  • US Congressional Award 2001
  • Who's Who of American High School Teachers - numerous

Ms. DeVore employs an extremely creative team of dancers, drummers, and administrative staff.   Ms. DeVore's patience, and discipline led her team and students to a brand new dance studio in 2007.
